How We Work

We believe in networking, cooperation, and partnerships in all areas of our work. Our focus is on assisting families to raise their children instead of abandoning them to an institution. Our field staff consists of childcare coordinators who monitor the situation of the children and families in their care. They work with the spiritual, physical, economic and social needs of the children and their families. We partner with churches, parents and agencies to teach, train and mentor their children. These partnerships are realized in four sponsorship programs:

Child Sponsorship

Family based, child focused, creates a connection between child, family and sponsor. Provides for education, medical, summer camp, a childcare coordinator, and unlimited correspondence between sponsor and child.

Foster Family Sponsorship

Family based and focused, these families take in from 5 to 10 social orphans to raise them as their own. Sponsorship provides support for daily family needs including education assistance and extras they couldn't otherwise afford. Many of these children come from very abusive backgrounds.

Student Scholarships

Children who graduate from child sponsorship and exemplify strong character qualities can apply for scholarships to pursue higher education. These students are very motivated and deserving of support. They are future leaders of their communities.

Special Projects

Special needs children, mentoring orphans, feeding hungry families, are all some of the special projects supported by Mercy Project sponsors.
